Tropical Spice Garden
- unique in Asia and the world
Tropical Spice Garden first opened its doors to the public in November 2003, as an ambitious, yet holistic eco-tourism project showcasing over 500 varieties of exotic fauna and flora (with an emphasis on spices), spread over 8 acres of secondary jungle.
Tropical Spice Garden has now become one of Malaysia's premier eco-tourism destinations with a number of prestigious awards under our belt, including:
- Gold Award, Laman Floral Garden Award, The Malaysia International Landscape & Garden Festival 2004
- Merit Award, Tourism Malaysia 'Best Man-Made' tourism attraction 2005/06
The Garden aims to instill and nurture an awareness of the natural environment, and the importance of plants in a spectacular and easily accessible setting, to offer all our visitors a truly unforgettable experience!
Our Vision & Mission
Our mission - To be an internationally-recognised garden and botanic institution focused on enhancing knowledge and understanding for the responsible management of our natural resources.
Our vision - To become the region's leading botanical garden through an emphasis on conservation, education and research.
Our Logo
The flower on the Tropical Spice Garden logo is a modern interpretation of the Bunga Kantan or Torch Ginger, indigenous to Malaysia and SE Asia. Finely chopped Bunga Kantan is a crucial ingredient for garnish in Laksa, a famous Penang dish.
The logo reflects our pride in our local roots and also emphasizes our role as a botanic institution (we love to eat Laksa too!).
